Shepherd Public Schools
Site Design
Shepherd, Isabella County, Michigan
Shepherd Public Schools received bond approval in 2007 for the several projects including the construction of a building addition to the High School, a new football field and track, and additions to Shepherd and Winn Elementary Schools. Tower Pinkster served as the lead architect on the project, Williams & Works provided site civil engineering services and O’Boyle, Cowell, Blaylock & Associates, Inc. (OCBA) provided the landscape architectural services for the projects.
Within the two phases of construction there were four separate construction projects on the two school campuses.
- Winn Elementary (2008 Construction)
- Stadium Project—Relocation of the football field and track (2008 Construction)
- Shepherd High School Addition (2009—2010 Construction)
- Shepherd Elementary and Bus Loop (2010 Construction)
Williams & Works provided site civil engineering services for the two-phase project which involved a new football field and track, and building additions to the High School and two Elementary Schools. Our work included designing the site utilities, developing grading, drainage and erosion control plans as well as coordinating the local approvals of the state site plan review application. Additionally, we coordinated the abandonment of a public right of way through the Village of Shepherd and developed plans for the extension of public watermain to serve the High School Gymnasium. During construction we prepared bulletins to address unforeseen conditions and coordinated with the contractor to make site visits at critical times of infrastructure construction.
