Engineering Project Manager

Williams & Works is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Project Manager to join our growing Civil Engineering Group.

Candidates shall possess a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Michigan P.E. registration, and 10+ years of professional design experience including roads, stormwater, water distribution, sanitary sewer collection, and site grading. Candidates shall also have experience in project and client management, working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D, proficiency in Microsoft Office and be self-motivated and able to work well with others in a professional, hands-on environment. Excellent technical writing, organizational and communication skills are also required.

Responsibilities include the effectively leading project teams in the study, design and construction of projects. Work will be primarily focused on municipal with some private development work.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Successfully developing and maintaining client relationships, providing ongoing mentoring to other Engineering team members in technical and project management tasks, and actively participating in business development activities including research of potential client, market and project opportunities.
  • Preparation of work scopes and budgets for proposals, and taking part in project interviews and participation in client organization events.
  • Project quality, schedules, budgets, and profitability.

Bridge Design Engineer

Williams & Works has an immediate opportunity for a full time Bridge/Structural Engineer in our Grand Rapids office.

Candidates shall possess a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from an ABET accredited institution (with an emphasis in structural engineering) as well as a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in bridge engineering study, design and construction support/oversight with public agencies, including the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), counties, and municipalities. Experience with AASHTO, FHWA, MDOT bridge design standards and guides is required. Proficiency with Bentley Microstation software is desired. Bridge load rating experience is desired. Familiarity with AASHTOWARE BrR, MDX and Bentley Leap CONSPAN design software are desired. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required as well as a team mindset.

Project Engineer - Road Design

Williams & Works has an immediate opportunity for an experienced full time Roadway Project Engineer in our Grand Rapids office.

Candidates shall possess a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from an ABET accredited institution as well as a minimum of eight years of progressively responsible experience in civil transportation study, design and construction support/oversight with public agencies, including the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), counties, and municipalities. Business development and client relationship experience are desired.  Experience with AASHTO, FHWA, MDOT roadway and highway design standards, criteria, policies and procedures is required. Training, supervision, and collaboration with design staff are expected. Proficiency with Bentley Microstation and GEOPAK software are required.
